Set in a dystopian alternate history version of 1912, you play as a grizzled private investigator called Booker DeWitt who, in exchange for his gambling debts being paid, is asked to travel to a city called Columbia to rescue a woman called Elizabeth. This review may contain some mild-moderate SPOILERS, and the game itself contains some FLASHING/FLICKERING lights, but I don’t know whether they’re intense enough to be a problem or not. So, let’s take a look at “Bioshock Infinite”. Whilst one or two brief moments will make more sense if you’ve played “Bioshock”, the story as a whole is very much a stand-alone thing which can be enjoyed on its own merits.

Still, it is worth it.Īnd, yes, even though its the third game in a series, it can be played as a stand-alone game. This took at least a couple of hours, not to mention that one of the segments of the “offline backup installer” download got corrupted – luckily, I was able to spot it due to the file size difference and re-download the exact segment – but actually even getting this game onto your computer is a bit of an effort. Still, as a warning, the download is a ridiculous 39.3GB and you have to download both the main game and the DLC at the same time. Whilst I’ll only be focusing on the main game in this review, this edition includes all of the DLC as well ( and I might review both parts of “Burial At Sea” in a separate review). So, I was able to pick up a copy of the “Complete Edition” for about eight quid.

Thanks to luck, or being in the right timeline or whatever last November, the DRM-free edition of “Bioshock Infinite” got discounted again on GOG a mere week or two since I missed buying it during the previous sale. If anyone is curious, I’d heard very mixed things about the second game and – well – the third looked more interesting. Sorry for posting reviews on consecutive days, but – after playing the original “ Bioshock” (2007) – I was eager to play the third game in the series, “Bioshock Infinite” (2013).
